These rocks are classified according to their texture, mineralogy, and chemical composition. The classification of igneous rocks is based on the mineralogy, chemistry, and texture of the rocks.

Texture refers to the size, shape, and arrangement of the mineral grains that make up the rock. The three main classifications of igneous rocks are based on their texture: phaneritic, aphanitic, and glassy. Phaneritic igneous rocks have large mineral grains that can easily be seen with the naked eye. Aphanitic igneous rocks have small crystals that cannot be seen without the aid of a microscope. Glassy igneous rocks are those that have no crystals at all and have a glassy appearance.

The mineralogy of igneous rocks is determined by the minerals present in the rock. Common minerals found in igneous rocks include quartz, feldspar, mica, hornblende, and pyroxene. The presence or absence of these minerals in the rock determines the type of igneous rock. For
