How Door Lock Works?

When it’s locked, the cylinder engages a series of spring-loaded pins which keep the cylinder from turning. When you insert a key, the uneven edge pushes the pins upward to fit the key’s height in that location within the lock body. Essentially, it recognizes the correct key when the pins move into their proper places.

When the key is inserted into the lock and turned, the spring-loaded mechanism releases the bolt and allows the door to be opened.

Another common type of door lock is the knob lock. It works by using a button or lever on the inside of the door which is connected to a metal plate. When the button or lever is pressed, the metal plate moves, releasing the latch and allowing the door to be opened. Knob locks can be opened without a key and are often used on interior doors.
