How Long Is Royal Gorge Bridge?

The Royal Gorge Bridge is one of the most iconic landmarks in Colorado. Spanning the Arkansas River in Cañon City, the bridge stands at an incredible height of 956 feet and is the highest suspension bridge in the United States. It is also the third highest in the world.

The bridge was first opened in 1929, and was the highest bridge of its kind in the world at the time. The bridge was originally constructed using steel cables and a wooden deck, but it has since been upgraded and now features a steel deck. The bridge is also 1,260 feet long, making it one of the longest suspension bridges in the world.

The bridge is an incredible feat of engineering and is a popular tourist destination in the area. Visitors can walk across the bridge for a fee and marvel at the incredible view of the Arkansas River and the Royal Gorge. There is also a Royal Gorge Route Railroad that operates along the valley, allowing visitors to take a scenic train ride along the canyon walls.

The bridge is open to visitors all year round, however, it can be closed due to high winds and other weather conditions. During the summer months, the bridge is open from 8am to 8pm, while in the winter it is open
