Concrete with lower permeability can generally be achieved by substituting between 25 to 65 percent slag cement for portland cement. Figure 2 shows the ability of a specific slag cement to reduce the permeability of concrete as measured by the rapid chloride permeability test.
What Is a Possible Way to Decrease Permeability?
There are many ways to decrease permeability, but some are more effective than others. One way to decrease permeability is to use a less permeable material.
This could be something like a thicker glass or a denser metal. Another way to decrease permeability is to add a barrier to the material. This could be a coating or a layer of something that is not as permeable.
Finally, another way to decrease permeability is to change the shape of the material. This could be making it smaller or changing the way the pores are arranged.
