Waves are created when something vibrates, such as a tuning fork or a person singing. The vibrating object creates waves that travel through the medium and eventually reach our ears, where they are converted into sound.

The period of a wave is the time it takes for the wave to complete one full cycle. The frequency of a wave is the number of times the wave completes a cycle in a given period of time.

For example, if a tuning fork vibrates 100 times in one second, its frequency is 100 Hz. Period and frequency are inversely related, which means that as one increases, the other decreases.

This is because the higher the frequency of a wave, the more times it will complete a cycle in a given period of time. For example, if the frequency of a wave is doubled, the wave will complete two cycles
