In order to understand what geothermal energy is, you need to first understand how it works. Geothermal energy comes from the heat of the earth.
The earth is heated by the sun and this heat is stored in the form of energy in the earth’s core. This heat is then transferred to the earth’s surface through conduction.
Geothermal energy can be used to generate electricity or to heat and cool buildings. In order to generate electricity, a geothermal power plant is built. The power plant pumps water into the earth’s surface where it is heated by the earth’s heat. The water then turns into steam and turns a turbine which generates electricity. Geothermal energy can also be used to heat and cool buildings. In order to do this, a geothermal heat pump is used. The heat pump uses the earth’s heat to heat or cool the air inside of a building. Geothermal energy is a renewable resource because the earth’s heat is constant. It is also a sustainable resource because it does not produce greenhouse gases. Geothermal energy is a good alternative to fossil fuels because it is clean and renewable.
